An HSBC mortgage agreement in principle is one of the steps in the bank loan application process that helps you figure out how much mortgage you can get, for how long, and what payments you will make. 

Such an application will not affect your credit score, and it can be completed online in 5 minutes on the HSBC's website in the Borrowing – Mortgages section. 

To be eligible you should: 

  • be a resident of Great Britain and have an age of 18 or over
  • get a periodic revenue in GBP
  • you are not a military
  • buy-to-let mortgages and help-to-buy do not participate in the program
